ESSENTIALS OF LIGHT – NATURE IN COLORS

In November 2015 a group of architects, interior architects, electrical engineers and a silver-smith met in beautiful Mexico to explore, experience and design with light, in our BI workshop “Essentials of light: colors in nature”.Together we did exercises to study the effects of light both in nature and in interior spaces. Our observations were documented and shared in drawings and words. The participants were divided into two groups and based on the theme “Give nature back to the city” they each developed a design concept for a public space using light and reflections as the main design element.Furthermore, Ulrike Brandi, together with experts Luca Salas and Christine Brandi presented insights into their own work and explained physical, physiological and technical functions of light. The beautiful and calm atmosphere of Ixtla and our caring hosts created the perfect setting for our studies and enabled us to focus on our work. It inspired us to create beautiful lighting designs and to fully enjoy our learning process.
